I cant speak for the dvd player because I use my playstation. Ive had this surround sound system for about a year now and am quite pleased with it. I actually have to turn down the subwoofer because it pumps so loud. I actually bought this refurbed for around 225 and absolutely no issues with it so far. I could care less, and if its a big issue for you I know they do have a rear speaker wireless adapter you can purchase. I found the optimal setting for each speaker and am now perfectly pleased with the audio output.
all those super high priced surround sound systems. The 1200 watts of power really makes movies and video games an intense viewing and audio experience. If you can find this for under 300 its worth every penny vs. It also has two HDMI hookups (a plus for me), one in and one out. I hook my PS3 to this to play movies/video games and the sound is awesome. One con are the wires, need to find a way to hide them in the room because they arent wireless.
All in all for the price its a tough system to beat.
I actually jumped the first time I watch an action movie in sourround. The sound is adequete.
wow. I am extremely happy with the purchase.
ALL THIS FOR $300. This samsung is beautifily paired with my 56" DLP and Stand.
I upgraded from a JVC home theater in a box. It cost me $200 but was ugly, cheap looking, sounded horrible.
Pretty good with music, really good on movies. Very realistic.Only complaint - No AM Radio.
Gotta love those matching components. The 5 DVD changer has been quite useful and the quality of output exceeds our needs completely. Based on our TV watching habits, this hasn't really proven to be an issue, but it might be for others, so be aware. We really do love the way it integrates so seamlessly with our recently purchased Samsung HL61A750 DLP TV, via Samsung's Anynet system. I'll admit to being somewhat surprised by our impression of the quality of sound produced though. What this option does is basically reduce the length of wires run and eliminate the need to run them from the rear of the room back to the unit.
But, due to the research mentioned before, this was no surprise. We've had our HT-X70 TIB for over a year now and I can honestly say I've never really wanted any other product, or been overly disappointed with it's performance, since first hooking it up.I research products very carefully before buying, so this product hasn't presented any big surprises. It's ease of use and lack of complexity over previous Video and DVD players and sound systems has been greatly appreciated. We also have the wireless option for the rear speakers, which makes speaker placement very easy without the need to run the wires from the unit. A quick internet search provided instructions on doing so and we've only had to do it once, so it's not a big deal to us. Just pop in a DVD and both the TIB and TV turn on and the TV switches autmatically to the proper inputs to receive the DVD signal.
You will however, still need to connect the rear speakers to the wireless receiver. It was just a little disappointing, if only for just a few moment while searching for a solution.I'd definitely recommend this unit for anyone looking for a relatively inexpensive option for vastly improving your TV and movie watching experience over what comes out of the TV. I didn't expect it to be quite as good, considering the very small speaker wires included and the general TIB (theater in a box) concept.I'm a little put-off by the use of 3 ohm speakers, which greatly limits the possibility of changing speakers. Worth the extra money in my opinion, but not without it's troubles. What could be easier.
It worked well with our previous Toshiba DLP, but didn't automatically interface as it does with the Samsung TV. We've had to "reset" our system once when the wireless receiver stopped communicating with the TIB. It may not be considered a high end option by many, but it will likely satisfy the needs of all but the most sophisticated audiophiles.I'd also buy it again without hesitation.
I BOUGHT THIS AS A GIFT FOR A FRIEND TO SUPPLIMENT THE SAMSUNG HI DEF LCD TV HE HAS. SOUNDS GREAT. WISH THE MINI-SPEAKERS HAD A MORE SECURE BASE ON WHICH TO REST.FOR THE WIRELESS EFFECT OF THE REAR SPEAKERS HAD TO SHALL OUT ANOTHER $100 TO BUY THE SAMSUNG WIRELESS 'TRANSMITTER'.MY LOGITECH WIRELESS Z5450 COSTS MUCH LESS YET WORKS EXCELLENTLY FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS.COMPARATIVELY, THE SAMSUNG IS NOT BAD OVERALL.
MAYBE. Great system. Can't wait to get it set up permanently down in the family room. It's now Jan '09 and I love the system. They would only stand up on a hardwood floor, with no breeze. I wouldn't recommend this only because of the speaker shapes. The only "con" I have is something that I saw critiqued earlier.
I would put that engineer in the "box" that I put Tech Writers in. It's as advertised. My guess is he never set it up and tested it. Who was the engineer that designed the speakers. God what a mistake. I plan on mounting small plates to the bottom of some of the speakers and that will solve my problem.
Otherwise, I love the setup.
